Daily Prayers for Justice

  • Day 1: “O God, even as you heard and saw and knew the affliction of the Israelites when they were slaves in Egypt thousands of years ago, I pray that you will hear and see and know the affliction of the men and women and boys and girls who are trapped in slavery today. Come down, O Lord, and set them free by your mighty power.”
  • Day 2: “O God, I pray for International Justice Mission, the South West Michigan Human Trafficking Task Force, Better Way Imports, and every other ministry that fights human trafficking. Fill them with Your Spirit and with wisdom, give them the courage and resources they need, and use them to rescue, restore, and protect victims around the world.”
  • Day 3: “O God of justice, you have said that vengeance belongs to You, and we also know that You are kind and gracious to the ungodly. We pray for those who commit the crime of trafficking, that their hearts will be changed and that they will repent of their sins. We pray that in Your time you will bring criminals to justice through your perfect judgment.”
  • Day 4: “O God, our hearts are saddened and our spirits angry that the dignity and rights of men, women, and children are transgressed through threats, deception, and force. We cry out against this degrading practice of trafficking and pray for it to end. Protect all victims, especially our young and vulnerable. Let your tender love and care surround all present victims of trafficking. Deliver them, O God, from their perpetrator’s hands. Lord, please set them in the safety for which they long.”
  • Day 5: “O God, You have called us to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Give to us, the church of Jesus Christ, Your Love for the vulnerable and defenseless, and use us to help those who are trapped in slavery. Give us courage, wisdom, and determination so that our ministry will bring Your saving mercy to those who need it most. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.”
  • Day 6: “O God, we pray against the greed, lust, corruption, and fear which make slavery possible. We pray against the worldviews which reduce human beings to property. May the justice and truth of your kingdom come in every nation on earth, so that the systems which cause slavery to flourish will be overturned and replaced by systems that care for and protect each and every person.”
  • Day 7: “O God, we pray for the advance of the gospel through the work of justice ministry. We pray for victims of trafficking, perpetrators of trafficking, and families, towns, and cities to encounter the good news that Jesus is Lord. Use those who rescue and restore victims, who prosecute criminals, and who minister to families as witnesses of Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
